I did my Citizenship project with Blake. We did a book drive for a title 1 school in Salt lake. We chose that project because we wanted to do a book drive, and my dad has a childhood friend who teaches first grade that works there. She is always asking for extra books because most of the kids don’t have books at home so they need to come to school if they want to read. Most people have a lot of extra books that they don’t read anymore just lying around there house. Those books can be donated to somebody that will read it and it will make a big difference.
My work on this project has taught me how to manage my time better. We took a while to get every thing done and we had to do most things at the last Minuit. I have also learned that it is hard to find time to get things done during the day. It was very hard to find time to go down to Salt Lake and take the books to the school. That has taught me to schedule a time to do things before hand and not just when ever the time comes that you can do it.
We had a lot of obsticals that we had to face while we were doing the project. Our fist obstical was we had to decide a place to donate the books. We decided to donate to a shelter for women and children. Our problem with that was when we cakked them to see if we could donate they said that they don’t take donations like that. Then we decided to donate to the elementary school. We had to get the word out to people that we were doing the book drive so we made flieres and put them on peoples doors in the neighborhood.
This project has made a difference by providing less fortunate children the chance to enjoy books that they wouldn’t get to read otherwise. There are many other ways to make a difference but a book drive is one good way.
